Determining effect of urea and lime treatment on nutrient content and dry matter digestibility of wheat straws

This study was carried out to determine effect of the urea and lime treatment on nutrient content, in vivo dry matter disappearance 8IVDMD) and in situ DM digestibility (ISDMD) of wheat straw. Treatments included three levels of lime (0, 2.5 and 5 % DM basis). Urea and lime amount needed for each treatment dissolved in water to keep moisture level at 60 %. Solution mixed with straws and then ensiled in jars. Urea and lime interaction was observed on crude ash, organic matter, ADF, NDF, and IVDMD (P0.05). Urea and lime effects were foud significant on CP content and ISDMD of wheat straw (P0.05). As a result, combination of 2 % urea and 5 lime is effective enough for wheat straw treatment
