The use of genetic pools of farm animal species is carried out under the conditions of transition from the autochtonous breeds, which are highly adaptive to the local conditions of rearing, to synthetic and implanted commercial ones. In this connection in the production used is only small part of the genetic pool of the farm species and the consequent lowering of intraspecific genetic diversity takes place. The influence of ecogeographic special features of the agrosystems on recreating the cattle was determined by means of analyzing the genetic structure of four breeds bred in Ukraine's qualitatively determined conditions. Two groups of the Red Steppe breed (54 and 57 heads) were investigated at the farm "Komysh" (the Kherson oblast). The method and procedures used are described. A conclusion is drawn that the effectiveness of rearing the dairy cattle can be significantly influenced by ecological factors, by the absence of biotic factor (in particular, the bovine leukosis virus) because of the increased sensitivity to it in certain animals, and also by technological pollution. While forming the genetic structure of the cattle, the concrete ecogeographical conditions of rearing thereof contribute more substantially than the breed accessory and breeding in the proper line of productivity
