Total dry matter (TDM) accumulation, leaf area index (LAI), relative growth rate (RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR) and seed yield of a local winged bean cultivar grown on different support systems were investigated at Universiti Putra Malaysia Farm, Malaysia in 1994-1995. Support systems had a significant and overiding influence on the pattern of TDM accumulation, LAI, RGR, NAR, seed yield and yield attributes. The highest (2.13 t/ha) and the lowest (0.31 t/ha) seed yields were observed in plants grown on support height of 2 m and unsupported plants respectively. The support height of 1 m plants produced the intermediate (1.39 t/ha) seed yield, LAI, RGR, NAR and TDM/plant. The seed yield was associated with the contribution of the highest TDM accumulation, LAI, RGR, NAR and seed yield attributes.
