Effect of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin on gross lung lesions in fattening pigs

Effect of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin on gross lung lesions of fattening pigs by slaughter check was conducted. Weaned piglets randomized from the same source were subjected for treatment in four groups; group 1, vaccinated with Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae bacterin, group 2, vaccinated and feed-medicated with antibiotics, group 3, feed-medicated with antibiotics only and group 4 non-treated. Slaughter check and scoring for lung lesions was performed in all animals at slaughter. There was evidence of statistically significant difference in reduction of lung lesions in group 1, group 2, group 3 compared to control group. Reduction of lung lesions was found statistically significant difference in group 1 when compared to group 2, and similarly in group 1 when compared to group 3. No significant difference in lung lesions between group 2 and group 3.
