During five years, by using conventional breeding in combination with new breeding method, scientific and technological program at state level eneoded KHCN-08 (the program KHCN-08) was successful in selecting 35 rice varieties recognized as national and technological advance varieties (TAV) and 44 as multilocational testing ones in selecting and putting in multilocational testing a number of hybrid maize, groundnut, soybean, potato and tomato, selecting and recognizing two litchi cultivars, 14 top-line individuals of longan, two of mango, three of durian and two grape varieties. The program also indentified origin of 39 forest plants including acacia, encalyptus and caribean pine which were recognized as TAVs. Various clones of open-pollinated acacia were selected, asexually propagated and put in testing of which three clones were recognized as national varieties and other seven as TAVs. More than 100 individuals of three-leaves pine were selected, 80 clones of red pine were screened and various cross combinations were done with different forest crops.
