This study was an attempt to investigate the effect of the relationship between the sowing dates of mimosa (Mimosa invisa), its flowering process and seed formation on the mimosa's role in improving soil productivity in corn production. The result of the present study revealed that mimosa was a short-day plant; its flowering process took place only during late October and early November. The dry matter and seed production markedly decreased when the sowing date of mimosa approached the end of the rainy season when the day becomes shorter. This effect of photoperiodism on the mimosa governed it's role in improving soil productivity in corn production. This is because mimosa would have longer duration in producing organic matter. In another word, mimosa will have the whole rainy season for producing vegetative parts if it is able to germinate at the first rain of the year. This is owing to mimosa will keep on growing in vegetative part during the period of long-day. Moreover, the result of the present study showed that, in order to produce seeds, mimosa must not be sown later than 14 August and must be left to grow through the cold season.
