Four somaclonal lines were developed through the tissue culture technique from rice variety BR3. Total nitrogen as well as total soluble and reducing sugar contents significantly increased up to panicle initiation and somaclonal lines. On the other hand, phenolic and ascorbic acid content significantly declined with the advance of the crop's age. Somaclonal lines synthesized superior amounts of six leaf sheath constituents compared to the mother variety. Higher amounts of six parameters in somaclonal lines were found due to the creation of genetic variability by the chemicals of the growth medium.
