Gibberellic acid (GA3), boric acid (H2BO3), zince sulfate (ZnSO4) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) was applied during the imbibition stage of germination process. It was found that 50 ppm GA3 could not improve percentage of seed germination, but it promoted root growth and accumulation dry matter of seedling. The application of 3-9 ppm Boron of H2BO3 or application of 1 and 5 ppm ZnSO4 could upgrade germination percentage of sweet corn and yard long bean seeds. Furthermore, seedling root length and seedling dry weight were increased by these applications, particularly in low vigour seeds. Application of 5-10 meq/l KNO3 retarded germination of sweet corn and yard long bean seeds.
