Cabbage plants (Brassica oleracea, var. capitata) were grown in the phytocamber with low energy consumption in 1 kg plastic pots at two varieties of the soil substrate. Light was supplied by 6 fluorescent lamps( type "daylight"-Tungsram) that ensure irradiance 12 000 lx at a photosynthetic photon flux density of 144 mmol.m-2.s-1 at the leaf level. The total energy consumption was 116 kWh during the experiment. The conditions created in the phytochamber allow normal germination and growth of cabbage seedlings with a good chlorophyll content especially for the plants grown on the reached substrate.
