Study on some Bulgarian black currant elites - average weight and biochemical composition of the berries

The aim of the research has been to study some Bulgarian black currant elites with respect to the most important traits of the berries -average weight and biochemical composition. It was established that the studied elites N 89,66,54 have bigger berries that Silvergieters schwarze and Neosypayushchya. The elites exceed the two standard varieties in relation to content of vitamin C. Elite N 179 has smallest berries and the highest content of vitamin C. Sugar content varies from 8,17 (N 66) to 9,73 (N 259). The Bulgarian elites have insignificant organic acid content. Normal dry matter content has been registered for all the samples. Elites N 259,179,205,51,54 and Silvergieters schwarze have berries with fine taste and sugar-acid index over 4,01.
