[Peculiarities of annual onion culture protection against pests and diseases]

The programme of vegetable growing development in the Republic of Belarus is directed towards provision of onion production in the volume of 8250 tons by 2005. But getting high and stable yields, high quality products depends on noxious activity of phytophages and phytopathogens. Development of ecologically safe methods of common onion agrocoenosis protection against phytophages and phytopathogens and plant pests quantity regulation was showed. Assessment of biological and economic efficiency of new onion protection preparations and development of technology of their application was presented. The system of onion protection measures may include the application of plant growth substances and liquid mineral fertilizers increasing the plant yielding capacity and plant pests and disease resistance. Application of new pesticides and plant growth regulators allowed to get extra yields of 26 centners per ha and increase net income on 416 UDS per ha. Technology profitability is 175 %
