The provision of planning and calculation bases as well as PC applications for profitability calculations are key aspects of the Farm Management division. Furthermore, there is a necessary division of labour with other departments in the Research Station, where individual aspects are studied in detail. In its co-operation with the non-economic departments, the Farm Management division assumes an advisory function concerning the assessment of profitability in the conception, performance and evaluation of field trials and structural measures. In addition, expert surveys requiring the appropriate use of agricultural taxation methods are carried out. Special key aspects in the 2004-2007 programme of work are the development and application of the farm model and the machine cost calculation programme Tarifat, the farm management and labour economics data in special crops, the growth and co-operation patterns in agriculture, as well as the optimisation of dairy production systems.
