Corn redness is founded for the first time in Serbia in 1957. Since than it periodically appears in the highest intensity in the region of Banat. The first symptoms are manifesting in purple red colours on leaves, ear, internodes usually after flowering. Until that, we can not see any visible signs which could point that this pigmentation will appear. On the field we can find plants in green colour and also plants with expressed red colour. After appearance of symptoms, plants dry and die, especially in dry and high temperature conditions. In 2002 and 2003, corn redness appeared again in high intensity in the region of Banat in the second half of July.
