Drought occurrences in Serbia, monitoring and forecasting possibilities

Drought is quite often natural hazard in Serbia with serious damages to national economy, especially to agriculture. Dry years were particularly frequent in the last two decades of the 20th century. The purpose of this study is to point out the contribution of Hydrometeorological service to drought prevention, preparedness and mitigation by timely severity and duration of drought assessment and prediction.
