Results of investigation of microbial degradation of hydrocarbon contamination in Srpski Brod oil refinery wastewater testify about significant activity of intrinsic microbes, when regime of cultivation was amended by aeration and by adding of initial amounts of easy-to-uptake organics. Comparison of the composition of carbohydrates from the EPA priority list of contaminants before and after the treatment by intrinsic bacterial population and the same population enriched with mold capable to use carbohydrates as the carbon source, testify about different metabolic pathways of intrinsic bacteria and fungal Fusarium sp. strain, as well as about the significance and importance of applying microbial consortia in such biodegradation processes.
