Physiological characteristics of six introduced olive varieties Picholine, Itrana, Giarraffa, Carolea, Cucco and Dolce Mele were examined. Autochthonous variety Zutica was a control. Examined parameters were: vegetative shoot growth, leaf characteristics and mineral composition of leaf and fruit. Vegetative shoot growing was measured from June to October in 15 to 20 days interval. The most intensive shoot growth was in period until middle of June. Mineral leaf composition was analysed in samples taken at the beginning of August, and in fruit samples in full maturation phase. Examined varieties uptake with leaf the most of nitrogen, potassium and calcium, and with fruit the most of potassium. Relatively high content of nutrients in leaves of examined varieties indicate a good soil supply with those elements.
