Actual epizootiological situation of rabies in Serbia and Montenegro during the period 1993-2004

Rabies in Serbia and Montenegro is still considerably present an the territory of the country. Areas with the smaller number of registered cases are probably not spared from rabies, but the smaller number of samples has been put through to laboratories for examination (inspection). The lack of data about epizootiological situation in Kosovo and Metohija also does not mean that this territory is free from rabies. Considering the bad epizootiological situation in Serbia and Montenegro, the survey over this deadly zooanthroponosis is still an imperative, as well as the conduction of the preventive measures wiping out and eradication of rabies.
