The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth, meat performance and carcass composition in bulls of Charolais breed - French (CH1) and overseas (CH2) types, Czech Pied cattle (C), Hereford (HE) and Aberdeen Angus (AA). The live weight and 6 body dimensions as well as the length of the MLLT were determined at 120, 165 and 210 days of age (within the interval of +/-15 days). The fat content was evaluated according to the layer of subcutaneous fat. The CH2 breed attained the largest body frame (shoulder height - 111.4, 118.9 and 121.1 cm, body weight - 177.3, 249.9 and 313.1 kg). The lowest body weight was observed in C bulls (136.5, 186.5, and 241.2 kg). The CH1 bulls presented the best values of the semi-perimeter of the thighs (6.16 cm) and MLLT height (5.47 cm). The lowest layer of subcutaneous fat was measured in CH1 breed, the lowest value of MLLT height in C breed. The best meat performance was obtained in Charolais bulls.
