Artificial regeneration of indigenous tree species in the high forest

In May, 1963 an area of 9ft x 9ft was pegged, and in June of the same year, 2,837 striplings of Tarrietia utilis and 2,800 striplings of Khaya ivorensis from Subri (S.W.) Research Nursery were planted out. These were assessed in September and the result indicated that there was 98% success for the Khaya ivorensis and 96% success for the Tarrietia utilis. Another assessment in 1966 showed that the percentage success of Khaya ivorensis has dropped to 88% while that of Tarrietia utilis had dropped to 42%.
