A review is presented of the nature of the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) in Ghana, its purpose and the form it took. A review of the policies undertaken under the programme with specific reference to the agricultural and timber and other forestry policies and their implications for deforestation and biodiversity loss in Ghana. The chapter is structured as follows: an overview of the programme; agricultural policies; timber and forestry policies; policies affecting deforestation and policies addressing deforestation and biodiversity loss.
