Changeover of agricultural and environmental policies and development of protected horticulture in the Netherlands

Dutch protected horticulture makes the most of the high technology said as the world extreme height level. It has played an important part as an export industry under the backup with the government and the agribusiness. As the result, the vegetables and flowers produced in this country occupy important position in the EU market. But, a very strict position recently makes Dutch protected horticulture stand. The environmental pollution which appears by the livestock breeding and the horticulture is causing a trouble in this country. And the competition of the horticulture crop in the EU market is intensified due to the rise of the countries in South Europe and Africa, In such conditions, Dutch government changeover the agriculture policies into the agricultural and environmental policies that environment preservation is taken seriously. Glasshouse farm management attempt the improvement of the productivity and the production cost decrease due to the scale expansion, the mechanization, automation, division and so on, and to supply expensive products by using the environmentally friendly technology. Furthermore, they strengthen the function of the marketing by reorganizing a sales co-operative. They aim to keep and improve the competition power by those means. Recently low input sustainable agriculture and the safety of food are taken seriously, and a large amount of vegetable and flower coming to be imported from the Asian countries in Japan. I think that such an advanced Dutch engaging is very helpful for the Japanese horticulture in the future.
