We previously found that a single whole-body hyperthermia (WBH) inhibited the growth of spontaneous mammary tumors in SHN mice. The effect was enhanced by simultaneous injection of glucose to the level achieved with five rounds of WBH. In order to improve further the effects of WBH two rounds of WBH (double WBH trial) with or without glucose injection were applied in this study The effects of these WBH treatments on uterine adenomyosis, which has the similar pathological and endocrinological background to mammary tumors, were also examined The double WBH trial inhibited tumor growth to the same degree as the single WBH trial The inhibitory effect with glucose was rather less than that of the single trial with glucose. Plasma component levels showed little relationship to the inhibitory effects of the respective trials on mammary tumor growth. Different schedules of WBH affected slightly either the incidence or the progression of uterine adenomyosis.
