Control of insect pests on okra [Abelmoschus esculentus] using indigenous natural enemies in an open field

The control of insect pests on okra using indigenous natural enemies of ladybird beetles, Orius spp. and spiders in an open field was examined. Acephate and ethofenprox showed high effects on ladybird beetles against aphid. Acephate, ethofenprox and chlorfluazuron showed high effects on Orius spp. against aphid. Moreover, acephate showed high effects on spiders against common cutworm. On the other hand, BT and chlorphenapyr showed low effects on these enemies. The system to control the key pests were made on three systems. Acetamipride was applied to control aphid after removal polyfilm. The residues such as leaves were taken away from the field, and common cutworm was hand-picked. And then, a selective insecticide with little influence on these enemis was applied. The suppressions for aphid and common cutworm were possible in three times by combining these systems.
