A study was conducted to determine the effect on egg weight and egg size when feeding hens 33 or 45weeks to 60 weeks of age with a CP15% diet with an amino acid content higher than required by japanese feeding standard for poultry. Egg weight significantly decreased (P<0.05) with the CP15% diet from 33 or 45 weeks as compared with the CP17% diet. Egg production and daily egg yield were not significantly different for hens fed with a CP1596 diet as compared with onesfed with a CP1796 diet. Concerning egg sizes, the percentage of LL decreased and that of MS increased, but the percentages of M + L did not differ whether the hens were fed a CP 15% diet or a CP 17% diet. Thus, feeding on a CP17% diet from 21 to 44 weeks of age and a CP15% diet from 45 weeks of age and may reduce the number og eggs exceeding the standard size at the latter laying stage, but will have no effect on increasing the percentages of M+L eggs."
