In order to track migration of released kuruma prawn (Penaeus japonicus), 176,146 juvenile prawns marked by tail fan cutting were released at the coast of Akou City. Hyogo Prefecture in the northern Harima Sea. The number of recaptured kuruma prawn throughout the eastern Harima Sea was very high and estimated to be 38,893 individuals (recapture rate of 22.1 %). If the validity rate of marking (approximately 80%) is taken into consideration, this number is expected to be 48,616 (recapture rate 27.6%). The improvement of nursery rearing and releasing practices used in this study, such as the rearing of large size juveniles (BL5.9 mm) in the nursery pond using sand beds and one-night acclimation to the natural environment using a net just before release, indicates that effective stocking of Kuruma prawn can be achieved.
