Abstract We advanced development of the variable rate fertilizer applicator (VRFA) for row crops as sugar beets and beans. VRFA could be operated with the application map, the tractor position and the speed measured by RTK-GPS. Nitrogen and phosphate application maps were made by soil nitrogen and phosphoric acid samples taken from the grid size 25 m*25m. The amount of N for the variable application area is set at 80%, whereas 100% for the constant rate application area. As to P, both areas are set at 100%. The results of the corrected sugar yield in both areas were almost the same and even,
