[The role of economic knowledge in the development of entrepreneurial abilities]

New demands towards economic education caused by globalisation process are viewed in this article, the main role of developing entrepreneurial abilities in the process of economic education is also considered there. The author characterizes the present situation in Latvian schools in aspect of economic education, giving also analyses of lessons and extracurricular activities and their availability to all students. The centralized exam in business economic basics and its results are considered as essential characteristics of the quality of economic education. The conclusions of the present situation are made on the basis of the research carried out, as well as major problems are touched upon and their solutions are given.
