Nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method was developed for porcine parvovirus (PPV) DNA detection. An efficacy of haemagglutination reaction (HA) and PCR was evaluated and compared. It was found that PCR could detect 10-3 haemagglutination reaction (HA) units and nested PCR 10-5 HA units, respectively. To test PCR in diagnosis of PPV infection lungs from stillbirth and mummified foetuses were used. Altogether 29 samples were collected on 8 swine farms. No sample was not positive in HA, whereas single PCR and nested PCR gave positive results in 1 (the same) out of 29 cases.
