Habitat distribution of water beetles (Coleoptera) in the middle course of the Neman River, Belarus

In the middle course of the Neman River 45 species of water beetles have been found to occur. The most numerous were: Laccophilus hyalinus, Laccobius minutus, Gyrinus aeratus and Haliplus fluviatilis. The all (except L. minutus) represented lake - river element, which constituted 60% of the total number of the whole collected material. The distribution of water beetle fauna is determined, to the highest extent, by the habitat diversity of the river.
