More than 50 species of the family Aneuraceae are recognized in Malesia, which is one of the areas in the world where the most abundant number of species of the family occur today. Their distribution can be classified into some geographical patterns: local endemics, widespread from Japan to Australia, widely distributed in Malesia, restricted to West Malesia, restricted to East Malesia (New Guinea and adjacent areas), and others. Some rare and uncommon species with unique morphology and biology are reported.
