Ahmad, B.
Eight genotypes; Pb-1, CMNK-287-3, CMNK-281-7, CMWK- 4409, CMN-385-3;CMN-729-2; CNN-667-4 and NIFA-95 were inducted in the study. The responseof Kabuli and Desi genotypes was studied for comparison purposes. Thehighest larval (19.90 days), pupal (10.00 days) and developmental (26.90 days)periods were observed in NIFA-95 whereas the lowest larval (14.63 days),pupal (9.33 days) and developmental (23.96 days) periods were recorded inCMNK-440-9. On the basis of these parameters, NIFA-95 was found mostresistant whereas CMNK-440-9, the most susceptible to H. armigera. Thehighest Larval weight (353.68 mg) and pupal weight (210:90 mg) was measuredon CMNK-440-9, whereas the Larval weight (295.50 mg) and pupal weight(155.03 mg) was least in NIFA-95. The highest Adult Longevity was 4.11 days(CMNK-440-9) and the lowest was 2.65 days (NIFA-95). The highest adultlongevity of Helicoverpa armigera on a genotype shows susceptibility whereasthe lowest shows resistance of the genotype. From the parameters of larvalweight, pupal weight and adult longevity, NIFA-95 was resistant and CMNK-440-9 was susceptible to Helicoverpa armigera. Larval survival, pupal recoveryand adult emergence of Hehcoverpa ormigera were determined on each of theseeight genotypes and were high on CMNK- 440-9 (100, 100 and 90 percentrespectively). The lowest larval survival, were calculated on NIFA-95 (60, 50and 30 percent respectively). On the basis of these parameters NIFA-95 wasthe most resistant whereas CMNK440-9 was the most susceptible to Helicoverpaarmigera. From the response of Desi and Kabuli genotypes, Kabuli was moresusceptible to Helicoverpa armigera as compared to Desi. Larval period, pupalperiod and total developmental period was longer on Desi where as these wereshorter on Kabuli genotypes. Larval weight, pupal weight and adult longevityof Helicoverpa armigera were high Kabuli as compared to Desi. Larval survival, pupal recovery and adult emergence of Helicoverpa armigera were high onKabuli in comparison with Desi. From the comparison, Desi genotypes weremore resistant to the H. armigera as compared to Kabuli. Those genotypeshaving the larger number of Trichomes were comparatively more resistant toH. armigera as compared to the lesser one. From all parameter; NIFA-95 wasthe resistant whereas CMNK-440-9 was the susceptible genotype to H. armigera. From the comparison of Desi and Kabuli genotypes, Desi was more resistant asthose of Kabuli.
