Phosphorus, potassium and calcium uptake with spring triticale and common vetch in pure and mixed stand

A micro-plot experiment was conducted during 1996-98 on light soil to determine P, K and Ca content in plants and their uptake with plant dry matter yield of spring triticale and common vetch. The species were grown in pure and mixed stands. Growing species in mixture increased content of potassium in plant dry matter of each of the species compared to pure stands. The highest percentage of K in triticale and Ca in vetch plants were observed in plants from the lowest yielding treatments. However nutrient uptake was highly correlated with dry matter yield of plants of the 2 species
