Pot experiments were run to determine the reaction of the seedlings of 3 cereal species: rye, winter wheat and winter triticale to the presence of diversified doses of weed biomass supplied to the soil. The mass of above-ground parts and roots of the above mentioned cereals was the measure of the effects. Statistically significant variation of the initial growth of rye and wheat was found depending on the kind of biomass of the three weeds supplied to the soil. The response of the cereals depended on the dose of weed biomass, sometimes low doses had a stimulating effect
