Ixora flower is one of the important flowers. It was used not only for decoration but also for consumption like food and herb (for example, its flower, root and leaf). However, at present, the data concerned with the contamination of heavy metals in Ixora flower are still limited. The purpose of this research was to analyze some heavy metals (Mn, Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb and Fe) in fresh and dry flowers of Ixora macrothyrsa and Ixora stricta collected from some places in Muang District, Phitsanulok. They were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results showed that these Ixora species accumulate each heavy metal nearly the same quantity. The metal accumulation was decreased in the order of Fe, Cd, Zn, Mn, Pb and Cu respectively. However, the amounts of these heavy metals are non-toxic to human. In addition, the surrounding environments have affected to the quantity of the accumulation of these heavy metals on flower surfaces. This research is therefore very useful in term of using Ixora flowers with the safety level from heavy metals.
