Effect of parenteral administration of vitamin ADE on incidence of retained placenta in Khonkaen Dairy Cooperative

In 1999, 24 out of 120 dairy farms in Khonkaen Dairy Cooperative has been randomly questionnaired on the information of incidence of retained placenta, 11.9 percent of dairy cow in these farms had history of retained placenta which were in 22 farms out of 24 studies farms. There were no record of amount and time prepartum supplementation of vitamin ADE founded in all farms. In the study was found that in 165 cows from 24 farms which got vitamin ADE (250-1000 mg, IM) 2-4 weeks prepartum, the incidence of retained placenta was less than cows which were not supplemented, (p 0.01).
