Serological survey of melioidosis in cattle and buffalo in Khon Kaen area

In seven areas of Khon Kaen province, 273 serum samples were collected from dairy cows, beef cattles, buffaloes during 1999-2001 and tested by indirect hemagglutination test against Burkholderia pseudomallei. The positive antibody titer was found in 17.22 percent of the samples. (29.6 percent in buffaloes, 12.0 percent in beef cattle, 18.2 percent in dairy cattle) and number of positive titer are 6.5 percent in Muang, 18.2 percent in Kranuan, 33.3 percent in Banpai, 12.5 percent in Nongrue, 64.7 percent in Chiengyuen, 10 percent in Banfang, 36.4 percent in Sumsung.
