Main purpose of this project was to investigate the effect of two types of sawdust, i.e. Meranti and Teak filled recycled high density polyethylene (r-HDPE) on mechanical and rheological properties. Wide ranges of fillers content and sizes were mixed with r-HDPE by using a twin-screw extruder and the mixtures were then pressed by using a compression moulding. Tensile strength and elongation at yield including flexural strength were found to be slightly decreased whereas Yongis and flexural moduli increased with the filler content. Besides, flexural modulus of the Meranti sawdust was greater at the same content and size than those of the Teak sawdust. Melt viscosities of the mixtures significantly decreased with shear rate. In addition, both content and size from the two kinds of sawdust hardly affected on the rheological properties of the mixtures.
