Inheritance of some characters in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

One cross of tomato Ladkrabang 1 x Seedatip 2 were made and the inheritance of agronomic characters such fruit size, fruit weight, number of fruit per plant and yield per plant studied. P1 Gene actions of each character were evaluated by generation mean analysis consisted of P1 P2 F1 F2 BC1 and BC2 Additive gene action and dominant gene action were the important factions controlling in fruit size and fruit weight whereas the number of fruit per plant and yield per plant were largely conditioned by dominant gene action. Fruit weight and yield per plant were highly heritable while the fruit size and number of fruits per plant were lowly heritable. Number of fruits per plant correlated with fruit size and positively perfect correlated with fresh weight. The chemical composition of 6 generations tomato fruit (P1 P2 F1 F2 BC1 and BC2). It was found that the P1 generation fruit had highest in both total solids and total titratable acidity whereas the highest total ash recorded in F1 generation fruit. The highest vitamin C was found in BC2 generation fruit while the fruit of F2 generation had highest reducing sugar.
