Immunohistochemical method was used to localize Phe-Met-Arg-Phe-amide (FMRF amide)-like substance in the eyestalk of Penaeus monodon. Strong immunoreactivity was observed in many large neurons in the medulla terminalis X-organ (MTXO), lower part of medulla terminalis (MT) and posterior medial margin of ganglion surrounded medulla externa (ME). Strong immunoreactivity was also found in optic nerve and neuronal processes which formed neuropil in ME, medulla interna (MI), MT, sinus gland. A large number of light immunoreactive small neurons were observed in lamina ganglionalis (LG) and ganglion surrounded ME.
