Effects of bioway-two on pig manure smell and growth performance

Bioway-two is a commercial microbiological compound for pig foods used for improving growth performance and controlling manure smell. Plate count agar culturing resulted that Bioway-two consisted of Bacillus spp. with 30 cfu/g endospore. Thirty-six pigs were fed diets adding Bioway-two of 0, 0.5 and 1.0 percent w/w. The results showed that pig feed intake were 1.23 1.02 and 0.97 kg/d (P0.05). Average daily gains were 731, 612 and 564 g/d (p0.05) and feed conversion rates were 2.36, 2.34 and 2.36 (P0.05). Adding Bioway-two trended to reduce growth performance but not significant. Pigs faeces smell was tested by ranking test method. Results showed adding Bioway-two 0.5 and 1.0 percent reduced manure smell from high level to medium and low level significantly (P0.05) after 7 days feeding and high significantly (P0.01) after 14, 21 and 28 days feeding.
