Research on the use of neem extracts from Ku-pilot in the control of insect pests of crucifera and citrus

Efficacy test of neem extracts in various formulations from KU Pilot Plant on diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) in Chinese kale field at Suphanburi Province was conducted by spray neem extracts at every 5 day for 5 times in the first experiment and 2 times in the second experiment. The larvae of diamondback moth were counted before and after each spray. The experimental design is RCB replicated 3 times with 5-6 treatments. The plot size is 4*4 square m. From statistical analysis of the last count (5th spray), the amout of larvae of diamondback moth in the first experiment among 4 kinds of neem extracts (NSE 50 and 100 cc and NFE 50 and 100 cc/20 L) showed no statistical different from untreated control. Because of too low population of diamondback moth, neem extracts had no better bioefficacy than untreated control. In contrary, the populate of diamondback moth in the second experiment was too high, neem extracts and abamectin could not control P. exlostella-larvae in low level resulted in high damage to Chinese kale.
