Result of multi-location hybrid rice yield trial at northern provinces on the spring 2003

Sixteen newly developed rice hybrids were included in the national hybrid rice yield trial on the spring 2003.The hybrid Boi tap son thanh and Nhi uu 838 were used as checks of these trials.The experiments were laid out on random complete block design with three replications.The same set of the sixteen hybrids was conducted at 6 provinces on the spring 2003. The data showed that the checks had average yield ranged from 6,501kg to 6,625 kg/ha.The hybrids had higher yield compared the check were PA47S/R3 (7,007kg/ha), HYT100 (6,837kg/ha), HYT83 (6,752kg/ha), G1TG5 (6,750kg/ha), 25A/IR56381 (6,750kg/ha). The hybrid HYT92 had similar yield compared to the checks. Among hybrids had higher yield compared to the check, there are two line hybrids viz. PA47S/R3, F1TG5 and three line quality hybrids viz. HYT83, HYT100 and 25A/IR56381. Based on yield data of trial of last three years, the HYT83 were recommended to release for hybrid rice commercial production in Vietnam and the another four hybrids viz. PA47S/R3, F1TG5, HYT100 and 25A/IR56381 shall be continued to be tested on the spring and the summer 2004.
