Study on heredity of salinity resistant gene of rice population
2004
Nguyen Thi Lang | Bui Chi Buu
A population of 257 segregants from F3 family was developed from a cross between IR28 and Doc Phung. Phenotypes were evaluated by visual score of salt tolerance at vegetative and reproductive stages under saline stress of EC 10=dS/m in phytotron. Beside that QTL mapping was conducted with microsatellite markers on this population. To examine the powever of the identified SSR marker in predicting the phenotype of the salt locus, we determined the genotypes of the F2 individual at this locus by performing progeny testing for salt in the F3 generation. The results indicated an accuracy of more than 90 percent in identifying the resistant plants which was similar to that using RG 223. The results of the germplasm survey will be useful for the selection of parents in breeding programs aimed at transferring these genes from one varieties background to another and use in markewr assisted selection.
