The eucalypt seed requires optimum conditions for germination - a suitable substrate, the right temperature, the right moisture content, and usually light. These factors vary between species and some species are notable for their requirement to tbe kept cool for long periods febore germination can be induced. Case study:- when comparing E. camaldulensis with E. microtheca, it must be remembered that there is varation within both species in many characters, but a few characters in one species are unchanging and contrast with those of the other.
