A long term field experiment was conducted on haplic chernozem. Two maize hybrids (400 and 700 FAO) grown under irrigation and five levels of nitrogen ( 0; 28.1; 22.5; 16.9; 11.2 kg.da-1) and phosphorus fertilization (0; 8.2; 6.5; 4.9; 3.2 kg.da-1) were observed. Plant samples were taken for measuring the total dry biomass and the content (%) of Ca in the plant samples (stems, leaves and cobs) and the whole biomass during plant development. Regression equations descrbing the Ca content and uptake during maize plant development for each level of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization were drown up. A parallel between requirements of the two hybrids was done.
