About the unusually strong appearance of quince and medlar rust in Serbia [Serbia and Montenegro]

During 1988 a strong infection were noticed on leaves, young fruits and twings of foregoing mentioned fruit trees. Based on symptoms appearance and morphological characteristics of the fungus, the causal agent was identified as Gymnosporidium confusum Plowr., species to which most probably belong. Host plants, aecia, aeciospores and other structures of the pathogen are given as well as control measures against the fungus investigated.
