Flashflood control on the territory of Belgrade [Serbia and Montenegro]

Flood control of torrential streams in the Belgrade area is considered in this paper. The basic characteristics of these streams are assessed during the field investigation. The majority of these streams have very bad hydraulic state and ecological status. According to the adopted criteria, all torrential streams are classified in several categories, related to the risk of flood hazards. The flood proon areas in the river valley are determined. The principles of flood control are analized and the basic activities are assessed.
