Enzyme technology and trend in enzyme catalysis

The effective catalytic properties of enzymes have already promoted their introduction into several industrial products and processes. Recent developments in biotechnology, particularly in areas such as protein engineering and directed evolution, have provided important tools for the efficient development of new enzymes. The impact of directed evaluation and specific mutagenesis on the industrial utility of enzymatic catalysis through the modification of enzyme structure and function is an important area of research in enzyme technology. Innovations in enzyme structure and function that address novel ways to apply enzymes in bioprocesses also affect the enzyme technology. The aim of this review is to present the recent developments of enzymes and enzyme technology in the industry in a more didactical manner.
