The paper presents the climate and vegetation characteristics and their interrelationship on the mountains massif Kopaonik in Serbia, based on the data of multiannual measuremets (1961-2000) in a number of lowland and upland weather stations in the study area (Kraljevo and Kopaonik). The climate is presented by the method of altitudinal gradients of the main meteorological elements. Based on these gradients, the values of climatic elements were calculated for the altitudinal belt (500-2000 m), which represented altitudes of the lower and the upper boundaries of the forest. Annual and seasonal values of the most important climatic elements important for the vegetation development are presented: air temperature conditions, pluviometric and humidity regime, climate and geographical characteristics - thermodromic coefficient after Kerner, Lang rain factor as the basis for climatic-vegetational classification, pluvial erosion hazard, drought index after De Marton and humidity index after Ivanov. Finally, by using the method by Thornthwaite and Lang, the climatic type was determined.
