Journal bearing phenomena are depicted by Reynolds partial differential equation in regime of hydrodynamic lubrication. In relation to its original form (Reynolds, 1886) different models of the equation have been developed. These models consider all the complexicity of bearing problematics. Jouranl bearing behaviour in exploitation copies into operating characteristics of the bearing. Modern journal bearings are more often produced as short-width ones. This significantly affects pressure distribution in the bearing, what is depicted by Reynolds equation for short-width bearing (DuBois, Ocvirk, 1953). By solving this equation operating characteristics of short-width bearing have been determined and analyzed. Function of pressure distribution in journal bearing lubricant film, attitude angle, load-carrying capacity, friction coefficient of journal bearing and leakage flow-rate have been transformed into non-dimensional forms. These quantities versus eccentricity ratio or attitude for different values of diameter-length ratio have been shown in form of diagrams and tables.
